Hero Up

When tragedy struck our community with the 2018 Borderline Grill mass shooting, a group of CVUSD High School students transformed their pain into action and created Hero Up.
After extensive research and interviews with medical specialists, law enforcement, and administrators, portable kits were created with the materials necessary to stop extreme bleeding in emergency situations. Each kit also contains an easy to read, two-sided instruction card complete with a QR code that leads to an additional instructional video.
The Hero Up kit was awarded a Junior Achievement National EY Innovation award for product of the year in 2020. Hero Up kits have been sold at medical conferences across California as well as to community members, teachers, and schools.
As a local student initiative, Hero Up’s goal is to quip every classroom in the CVUSD with Hero Up kits.  $30  provides one kit to a classroom. 100% of the donations made through this page will purchase kits for this program.  Click HERE to help our students with this student driven initiative.
